There are 2 more that I don’t see on anyone’s list that I have enjoyed. One that just came in is Goldwater 2010. It just seems to have more layers of flavor than most. Also the Jules Taylor 2010 if you like the more aggresive style. I actually met her last summer when she was here in Oregon for IPNC.

Neudorf. Very good.

The Dogpoint section 94 above is by far the best I have tasted. I would even give them 3 or so years before drinking.

Additional votes for Nobilo Icon (quality is better than the basic Nobilo) and for Wither Hills. I normally like Kim Crawford but didn’t relish the 2010 vintage.
Suggest also Kono (produced by the Maori and very refreshing) and Crossings. Bedford Rock compared favorably to Cloudy Bay in past vintages but I haven’t seen it locally in recent years.

Make it the section 94 version. Huge difference.

+1. A really nice wine with a lot going on. I like NZ SBs generally, but this one has a lot of added richness and sophistication.

This is a useful thread. Thanks to all.

Good to see Sineann’s Peter Rosbach here. I would recommend his NZ SB. Yes, an Oregon winemaker in NZ.

One of my family members loves NZSB (Nobilo, Matua etc) as well as Joel Gott’s SB, so we tried the 2019 Nobilo ‘Icon’ SB [Marlborough] yesterday. Screwcapped as most things from the nation is. I thought it was kind of watery, dilute - but the others liked it. Maybe it’s just too chilly nowadays (50F here) to be drinking these now. Unf this family member won’t drink reds.

In this space, even though it costs more, I’d rather have Cloud Bay over this.

Te Pa reserve to me is much more balanced than many NZ SB. Hand harvested, little gas station on the nose and good ripe fruit.

Loveblock is my favorite of late. Founded by the Crawfords after selling KC to Constellation.

Wow has the price gone down on that one. $10 or less in the Twin Cities in 2021.

Found Clos Henri at Costco late last month for ~$16 and am very happy with it, something almost old world about it, less fruit-forward, grassy, and cat pee, more minerality and structure compared to its Marlborough friends on the shelves next to it. Definitely a top contender for my tastes.

Some good suggestions here, and picking out s coup, of lists semi-random, Robert’s is a good one for something similar, perhaps better, for the same money or less. Clayton’s list is a great one for exploring, and I absolutely agree with them offering subtly different takes on the genre if that interests (including wild yeasts, some subtle barrel influence etc.)

Just got a 2021 Allan Scott SB from the Wine Buyer so will post a note on it. 93 Wine Spectator so we shall see.

Skye sparkling SB is pretty awesome.

Found an empty bottle of Nobilo SB in our front yard this morning so someone in the neighborhood would recommend that I assume.

Rockstar Alert 2021 Allan Scott Marlborough SB. $13.99 at Wine Buyer.

I think their family origin is in Sancerre, so perhaps that might explain the taste.
