I’ve been wanting to do a deep dive into Oregon for a while now, but it’s not easy to get a group of top Oregon wines in one sitting unless you are in Oregon. Short of making an actual trip there (which I should do at some point), I figured the next best thing would be to organize a tasting!
Parameters: Please each bring two bottles – one bottle of a high-end Oregon pinot noir and one bottle of a high-end Oregon chardonnay. You could define “high-end” in a number of ways, but in this instance let’s use price as a proxy (>$60 at current retail). Of course, you are welcome to bring additional bottles besides those two. We will taste them blind.
Venue: Golden Hof Bar & Grill on 48th. Their food is Korean fusion. Cost is expected to be around $130-150pp including tip, tax, corkage and one bottle of wine that we will order off their list. We will have a private room.
Time: 6pm, September 30
Need minimum 8 participants, will cap at 12. If you have dietary restrictions, let me know in advance.

In NYC at the end of Sept? I’m betting I’ll still be managing my Pinot ferments - especially Pinot Meunier as it is only 20% through veraison right now (at most). This said, I am tentatively planning to be in NY at the end of October for some visits and events with Vom Boden.
I have no Oregon Chardonnay and my best CT value Oregon pinot is only $50. If I can find stuff, I am a maybe, but I am trying to de-accession, so sourcing is not my favorite activity these days. NOW if you had said Oregon syrah, that’s another story. Lillian, anyone?
Hi Jay, if your health/scheduling permits, you should come!
I can chip in an additional chardonnay in your stead, and you can bring whatever Oregon red that you have and keep us guessing if it’s a pinot or a syrah. Also if you acquired that pinot a couple of years back, there’s a good chance that the current release is well over $50 MSRP anyway.
