People still ask me where to eat in New York even though I haven’t lived there for 6 years.
Should and could reply, “how should I know?” But instead I’ll go to this well and continue to be thought all-knowing.
How near and what type of food?
One or two people. Business dinner option. And a more edgy option would be good. Pretty sure the simple lunch answer today was shake shack.
Like… for the latter… is Tia Pol still good? That’s a straight forward cab ride.
Keen’s Steakhouse. 10 minute walk. http://www.keens.com/
While I liked, but have not been to Tia Pol in ages, my go to for Spanish tapas near the area is at Txikito. A little further from Penn Staion. http://www.txikitonyc.com/
I’ve enjoyed British pub foods at The Breslin. http://thebreslin.com/
Txikito looks pretty awesome.
How hard getting into the breslin on a given wednesday evening?
If it’s being expensed, then a decent choice is Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse right on the side of the Garden.

Cho Dong Gol, 55 W 35th St. Just a few minutes. House-made tofu.
I don’t know the wait time on a Wednesday evening. But fwiw I’ve eaten there a few times with zero wait on a couple of occasions and two other times with 10-minute and a 20-minute wait, respectively.
