Officially heading back to Piedmont in a few weeks—last minute and are thinking of extending our trip a few days.
Any ideas of coastal beach towns say Genoa and west? Any recommendations places to see/visit in that general area? Again, last minute trip where we have nothing planned for the “beach” part.
I’ll take anything wine, restaurant, attractions to see.
TIA
Genoa was very cool. Gritty but cool

I have Spiaggia di Varigotti marked for a visit whenever I’m in the area.
I’ve never been, but did always fancy going to the Hanbury gardens near the French border, with the added attraction of the ‘train of wonders’ that goes from Ventimiglia to Cuneo, briefly passing into France, and at one point doing a loop to gain/lose height.
Not on the coast, but we do like Cuneo itself. It’s an odd little place, with a quirky shape to the city, and the locals gently mocked as ‘coneheads’ (a pun on the city name). Some fine food, including if you’re into that, local snails. Two market days a week, with very good quality, and any market that has a stall selling tractors is a market I can respect!

Based purely on watching Milano-Sanremo: Cervo.

Go to Varigotti and visit Punta Crena/Ruffino. Some of the best wines in Liguria and very friendly people. There’s a good mostly seafood restaurant right on the beach, too, but I don’t remember the name. They carry Punta Crena wines…which is how I discovered them before some importer named Kermit found them.

30 minutes east of genova is camogli…where we’ve stayed 3x in the last 10 years. highly recommended…particularly cenobio dei dogi.
west of genoa, id probably go to menton the french border. san remo does seem rather cool as i watch the race every year like j patrick lynch.
genoa is indeed gritty…would love someone who knows the city to show me around. 2x ive visited have been interesting.

Camogli is a great starting point for the hike to San Fruttuoso.

We settled on the town of Bordighera on the western side of the Riviera nearing the border of France. Will go into Menton for a half day to explore and splurge on a dinner in Monaco.
