I’m going to be back in NYC next month for some wine events. Will have some extra solo time and want to do a lunch or dinner at the top top place. Last time I did Le Bernardin which was a solid and worthy experience, but not life changing.
This time I’m hoping to find a truly life changing experience.
Here’s my criteria:
Great wine list
Burgs are preferred
Good prices are a bonus but not expected
I’ll grab a couple of bottles and maybe a split as well
Atomix should be a 3 star restaurant and that’s a hill I will die on. It might be really hard to get into unless someone cancels day of and your looking at their instagram.
I agree with Robert about Jungsik. I have had many great meals there, you can usually get a table, it’s relatively quiet, service is great. I always BYO’ed so I can’t comment on the list though. I have not been to Brooklyn Fare since it was in Brooklyn, but I have a buddy who goes once a month and he loves it.
Not opposed to Japanese. I’ve had some great Omakase meals with Burgs. But how is their wine list or do I need to BYO? And it looks like they only do reservations 2 weeks in advance? Is there a certain time they open that I need to get on in 2 minutes to get a reservation?
Sushi Nakazawa or Masa won’t disappoint. But if you’re looking for a place that will let you sit and enjoy wine for hours, try jean-georges or The Grill.
I’ve never booked yoshino but in theory they open up reservations closer in than others (I think 3 weeks to the day or something like that). BF is the obvious answer though if you can somehow get in.
Just came back from 48 hours in NYC, went to Sohm Wine bar (located next to Le Bernardin) , went for dinner at Ai Fiori and Le Pavillon. Both are certainly worth their Michelin Star, but Le Pavillon hit just a little higher.; had the Fois Gras and Duck, really impressive service and wine list as well. Hope that helps…
