No Spring Rosé Thread Yet? Disgraceful!

We’ve already landed a case each of our returning faves, Chateau Lancyre Pic St. Loup Rosé and Robert Sinskey Vin Gris de Pinot Noir.
The Lancyre seems brighter and more citrusy (made up adjective), than I recall from last year, but I do have some 2011 to compare to.
The Sinskey is always lovely, as I first described it, California with the soul of Provence.

Something new for us this year is the Sulauze Pomponette Rosé, medium bodied and racy, it is delicious.

The record low temperature and 5 inches of snow on my deck aren’t making me want to drink rose … yet…

Right there with ya. I think we got more like 7" or so. It will keep a chill on the wine though.

So far this yr, i have tasted -

Lancyre - $12 at costco. Not as good as last yr
Campuget - $9 - diluted
Bieler - Last yrs fav but this year leaves a lot to be desired
Sofia Coppola - much better this yr. lots of frais du bois

I know this is heresy but the Ferme julien at TJ’s (made by perrin freres) cotes du ventoux for $5.99 is an easy choice.

I have some Epoch coming that I am looking forward to trying. The Bedrock Ode to Lulu is the best I’ve had yet. I also am going to give the local folks, Creekside Cellars a try. My club shipment includes a rose’ this year.

I’ve enjoyed the latest Bedrock Ode to Lulu a few times in recent weeks. On the way: Tercero, Liquid Farm, A Tribute To Grace. I’ll probably pick up some Baudry too.

Sinskey’s Vin Gris has been our go-to for years, but when I tasted it this year at the distributor’s tasting I was disappointed, it seemed sweeter and fatter than in previous years.

Instead we’ve been buying piecemeal, but since the weather only improved recently not much. In fact, I think we had our first one last night, a 2012 Chermette Vissoux Beaujolais Rose that was outstanding with some roast salmon and salad. Next one will be the Pomponette someone mentioned above.

Ditto on Tercero and Liquid Farm, plus some 2011 Haut Bailly Rosé – that ought to get me through Memorial Day anyway (in the 90s here, with apologies to Michael & Kyle).

the few roses i’ve had thus far have been nice. arnot roberts always delivers, and their latest release doesn’t deviate. i should be receiving some Baudry/Liquid Farm over the next few weeks and found a Cayuse rose lurking in my cellar.

love rose season

2012 Zotovich was amazing. Reminded me of the 2004 Charles Melton ‘Rose of Virgina’, which is one of my most memorable Roses.

Badenhorst 2013 Rosé

I popped this year’s Arnot-Roberts. Pretty tasty. Didn’t taste last year’s so I don’t really have a reference point, but definitely enjoyable.

Michael, give Canyon Wind Cellars’ 47-Ten Rose ($12) and Boulder Creek’s Dry Rose ($16) a try, too.

Any Denver area outlets for them?

CWC should be at Argonaut, Applejack and the like. BC not so much. I know it is btg at Delizios in Littleton, but don’t think they do any retail in Denver. They might have some SKUs at Liquor Mart in Thornton and Superior Liquor; but not sure about rose. Best way to find out is to contact the wineries directly as any retail locations they’re in change and don’t get updated online. The winery is worth a visit in Boulder - 63rd St and Odell. If you go, tell Mike or Jackie that I sent you…

The current Arnot-Roberts is delicious. That is my go to rosé, even over the Baudry.

The sun has come out in Seattle, so I opened a Navarro rose of Pinot Noir to have with apple wood smoked Sockeye. It reminded me of a Willamette Valley rose of Pinot, in a good way. Strawberry, tart cherry, and a hint of lime. I think this vintage (2012) is drier and brighter than the previous.

Whispering Angel from Chateau Desclans was very good last week.

Thank you!
