Just the two of us; we want the day after Valentine’s day–good move methinks.
2010 Lucien Le Moine Clos de la Roche was showing beautifully. It is still on the young side; more red-fruited than I expected but with all its parts in the right places: complex on the midpalate and quite long finish. (The French somm whom I had offered a taste claimed to find some “root” in the middle.) What especially stood out was its great purity and depth combined with extraordinary lightness on the palate, to an extent I’ve not really experienced before. (Perhaps on the white stone side of CDLR,? If I’ve got this right?)
Food at Boka was fun; the apps were better than the mains. (Not really any discernible truffle in the truffled chicken, which on its own terms was delicious.) Thought the somm might hit us with a sip of dessert wine by way of thanks, but it was never meant as a quid pro quo.
