Newton Vineyard to Shutter

Surprised LVMH is pulling the plug on Newton, given they have other winemaking facilities in Napa. At the very least, the brand equity must be worth something, I would have thought…

Hi Sam - some info on this is in another thread. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you’ll see Newton discussed. Cheers - Karen

Tasting room sales ‘falling off a cliff’, and why wineries shouldn’t rely on tasting room sales too significantly - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

Always liked the unfiltered Chardonnay in a jam for a grocery store purchase.

Everyone is under pressure in the industry. Saw Bronco and Gallo had a RIF.

Newton was particularly vulnerable losing their vineyard.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to the wine section at big grocery stores like Pavilions, Albertsons, etc here in Socal because it takes up huge real estate.

When the craft beer market crashed a few years ago the stores didn’t waste any time drastically reducing the footprint with hard liquor.
