NEWBIE INTRO: Repour Wine Saver

When a bottle is stopped with Repour, it will remove all of the oxygen from both the air above the wine AND from the wine itself and will keep your wine fresh for extended periods. Tom, these are great! I was in on the kickstarter. I don’t need to use them often, but when I do they work wonders!

These work, when I’m too lazy and don’t purge with the Ar bottle.

this is my question as well. one time use or multi use?

Matt in looking at the website it appears to be one use per, not a reusable item.

I use them once in a while. The company says one time use (as in one unit per bottle, can be used to re-“cork” the same bottle multiple times). They do work, but at least in my experience they seem to work much better when the bottle is at least 1/3 to 1/2 full vs just having like a glass left. Makes sense as it’s absorbing 300ml of oxygen vs. 500ml of oxygen. If the wine costs more than 20-25 bucks, but not so much that I don’t want to risk pulling the cork and just use the Coravin, I’ll usually use a Repour instead of just re-corking it. I do wish they were reusable or re-chargeable so it wasn’t one more disposable thing in life, but I try to recycle bottles as much as possible…

To answer your questions on single-use and recycling:

Single Use: Repour was designed around a standard 750ML of wine under the assumption of 5 5-ounce pours and around its ability to absorb the oxygen from 1500ML of air. When Repour is used this way (for regular BTG and for personal use), we have tested out to 7 months – on the same bottle – with exceptional results. The material in the stopper continuously removes all the oxygen from the air above the wine AND from the wine itself, completely stopping the degradation process.

As Repour works to remove the oxygen, it is also depleting its active ingredient, which is why its use is not unlimited. If a bottle is being opened multiple times to support smaller pours (a tasting flight or for sampling, for example), the math changes a bit, and I’m happy to send you a copy of our depletion calculator to help clarify the science. Please e-mail barb@repour.com with your contact information, and she will send you a copy.

Recycling: Repour is made from 100% recyclable materials, but we’ve discovered that because of their small size, some municipalities won’t recycle them. If that’s the case in your area, we have a program in place whereby you collect the used stoppers and return them to us. We’ll provide a pre-paid shipping label and take care of recycling and/or repurposing from there.

I tried Repour and it works. I believe it is iron powder. Any discounts lately?

Any trial discounts here? Seems to be more efficient / cost effective than Coravin.
