NEWBIE Intro - Kitson Wines

Kitson Wines (kitsonwines.com) is made up of husband & wife, Brad & Svetlana Kitson. At Svetlana’s suggestion, Brad went to U.C. Davis in 2003 to get a master’s degree in Viticulture & Enology. He started working in Napa in 2005 at Farella Vineyard and became winemaker for Georg Rafael Vineyards in 2010 (rafaeletfils.com).

We have been producing a small amount of our own wines for a while now and were recently featured in the San Francisco Chronicle (The seemingly impossible: an artisanal bottle of California wine for $10). Pinot Noir was the original focus because it’s Svetlana’s favorite. We’ve branched out from there. It’s fun and interesting to try new, different grapes and wine styles.

The wines are all handmade by us. We buy grapes from vineyards around Northern California - all family owned and most utilizing organic practices. Our winemaking practices let the grapes shine through. It’s pretty much grapes, yeast, ML bacteria and a bit of SO2. The red wines are aged in French Oak barrels.

The car in the picture on our label is a Hudson Super Six from a parade in San Francisco circa 1916. More importantly, the driver is Brad’s grandfather, Hugh “Hud” Huddleston. Soon after, he moved to Napa to start the area’s first car dealership. He’s our original connection to wine country.

Our wines have been on sale during the Pandemic at 1/3 off. Delivery is free in the bay area. Shipping is $9.99 in California and other western states. We mostly use vinoshipper elsewhere and shipping reflects their discounted pricing.

Great to see you here, Brad!

So nice to hear from you. Svetlana says hi. Say hi to Massimo for me.
