NEWBIE INTRO: Bravante Vineyards

Hello ! We are Bravante Vineyards, located “Above the Fog” on beautiful Howell Mountain, and we’re super happy to be a Newbie for BerserkerDay!

The seeds of Bravante Vineyards were planted in 1993 with the marriage of Nancy Nies and George Bravante at Meadowood Resort. Their shared interest in agriculture led them to purchase a plot of land on wild and esteemed Howell Mountain, upon which they built a home that would overlook their first vineyard. As the vines grew, so did their family – William, Mario and Matthew, who were born in the years following.

Several years later, George and Nancy sold their original property and bought a 20-acre parcel close to their original Howell Mountain homestead with the goal of producing world-class wine. In 1997, Bravante Vineyards became an established vineyard. They partnered with some close friends and set out to create a state-of-the-art boutique winery with the highest quality of grapes in the valley. The first vintages were released in 2000 – a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Over the next decade, the land provided bountiful harvests and Bravante Vineyards still continues to grow, and in 2007 they were honored with a “Winery of the Year” designation by Wine & Spirits Magazine. Fast forward a decade and, once again, we were honored by Wine & Spirits Magazine in December of 2017 with a “Top Wine of the Year” for our 2012 Estate TRIO.

Built on family and friends - two of the owners were dorm neighbors in college! - Bravante Vineyards maintains a “quality over quantity” approach in order to preserve the integrity of the land. Bravante Vineyards is committed to bottling perfectly balanced wines that offer true expressions of all that Howell Mountain fruit has to offer. Our production is usually around 3000 cases a year, and our winemaker Duane Dappen has been with us since the beginning. What are the vintages of your most recent release?

Looks like a beautiful place to visit, love Howell Mountain wines, will look for this on BD.

Sorry for the VERY late reply! We are pouring 10’s and 12’s in the Tasting Room. Our wines age beautifully, as many Howell Mtn wines do. Thanks for reaching out!

I’ve had the ‘09 and it was a nice wine at age 8. Tannins were quite tame for a mountain cab.

Thanks Andrew! The 12’s are tasting great right now. We hope you’ll visit us when you can.
