New York City marathon traffic

I’m hoping some locals could give me advice on how bad the traffic will be below 42nd St. around noon of the New York City marathon.

My godson wants to drive in from Long Island to have brunch with us on Sunday, November 1, most likely in the Nomad area.

Is it fly to even try? How’s the Midtown tunnel at noon on that day? I assume 10 AM might be better but he’s driving from Montauk.

No other options really.

The marathon route does not go below 42nd. But he may still hit traffic anyway, especially on 495, where traffic hits every day, and Marathon Sunday will likely make it worse. Long Island Railroad (LIRR) runs from Montauk to Grand Central and Penn Station.

Definitely take the train if possible.

Drive to somewhere in Queens or Brooklyn and take mass transit the rest of the way.

All good suggestions. Unlikely he will take any of them.
