I just consigned with them have my first group of wines up there now, Can report back once finished but has been ok so far.
I also use them often, but just for buying thus far, and for 2 reasons really. 1, i started with bourbon. And 2, they ship to my state where most other places will not.
Nothing but good experiences with them, and when i have had issues they have went well out of their way to make it more than right with me.
A friend had called me about some bottles he found on Unicorn and as I wasn’t familiar I took some time to poke around and found a few bottles in December’s auction that I bid on and won. Our offsite storage is not far from their warehouse so I used their system to set a pick up appointment which was then confirmed by their system. When we arrived, no one was there, one of two phone numbers did not work and no one answered the other so I left a message. After a few days no one had returned my call so I reached out via email and heard back within a couple of days. They offered to ship the wines to me at their expense and also offered me a $100 coupon for my trouble. I expected the shipping but the coupon was a generous compensation.
The shipment did not go out as scheduled but was delayed a couple of days. Not a huge problem as I am able to schedule myself to be home for delivery, but the problem is that I received three tracking numbers- very odd for six bottles. Turns out I also received someone else’s order. The first box to arrive was quite large for my few bottles, and rather light. Turns out it was empty OWCs of Krug CdM and original boxes of Krug GC halves along with a Patek Philippe corkscrew. The next day my wines arrived, along with another box containing someone else’s 12 half bottles of Grand Cuvee. Part of me would like to know what happened to the 2 bottles of 2008 Krug CdM whose OWCs are sitting in my living room right now…I thought those might have shown up with the halves of GC. Anyone here missing some Krug from Unicorn? ![]()
I reached out to them so they can create call tags for the boxes and halves, so I am sure things will get straightened out eventually, but wow, their operation leaves much to be desired.
Not quite the same, buy my first purchase was a mag of 2010 Pertimali Brunello. Lost in shipping. I thought that meant the carrier, but maybe not… I stopped using their service after a couple of poor CS experiences. It’s odd because they’ve been doing this for a long time with spirits and I almost only see positive reviews.
My only complaint with Unicorn has been with a bottle of 80’s bourbon that leaked in transit. They said since it didn’t break it wasn’t covered by insurance. Probably 5 other good transactions with no issues.
completely different teams and different locations running each
