New Windy Oaks Tasting Room

In Carmel.
This weekend.
Looking forward to sampling their wares…

I hope this doesn’t mean they are shutting the old (estate) tasting room. Always a lovely drive…

Over the last few years there’s been more and more tasting rooms opening in Carmel. I remember several years ago it was pretty much Galante Vineyards then Southern Latitude Wines and the Cheese Shop. Now it seems like the tasting rooms are doubling every year.

Strangely enough, there really isn’t a premium wine shop on the entire Monterey Peninsula… [scratch.gif]
I begged Clyde Beffa to open a K&L down here but he said the rents were too expensive.

I always thought that was curious too. You would think that the market would be there. The Cheese Shop has some reputable labels, but they’re quite pricey. Nielsen Brothers Market carries some higher end wines, but it’s been years since I’ve bothered to check. I imagine most are simply buying from online retailers.

Whoever’s killing bottles at Andre’s Bouchee has to be getting them somewhere.

It is a beautiful setting Brady, as I understand it, the Estate tasting room will remain open.

Be sure to try some older vintages, if they’ll open any - these great wines need time

The '10 PR is drinking well right now.

sweet. Staying in Monterey next month and heading to a wedding in Carmel, wonder if my wife will let me stop by

In recognition of their new tasting room, I cracked an '07 Proprietor’s Reserve tonight. I do love some Windy Oaks with a little age on them. Thanks to P-Rob for the tip!

been getting their wines for two years now. love them

One of the more underrated pinots, IMO. Great folks to deal with as well. Hope its a success for them.

Will definitely create more exposure for them and will be fun to visit. But nothing beats sipping some wine, looking out over the bay, while sitting at the top of the ridge in the adirondack chairs.

Couldn’t agree more Todd and the Proprietor’s Reserve with some age has to be one of the most underrated pinots in CA.

The PRs need age, for sure. I’m going over to the new tasting room this weekend and pick up a wine for dinner in town. I’m hoping for a '10!

Picked up a '10 “Whole Cluster” and visited with Judy and James. The visit and the wine were great!
