New Small Production Napa producer Worth Getting in on - MOWE Napa Valley

Completely agree with what everyone has said about Dustin and his excellent customer service, such a nice guy. Can’t wait to try his wines.

I’ll add on to the continual praise…

I was able to spend a few days with Dustin in TX as part of a private event and was excited to finally try the wines. Loved the style of the ‘22 Cabernet as it comes across very intentional in style (bright but not lean, ripe but not rich). Gorgeously perfumed. The ‘22 SauvBlanc was a head-turner…it “shades” toward tropical without being sweet or flabby…great acidity + mouthfeel.

Dustin was very clear about what style they are going for and how they have the right variables to accomplish their goal.

Glad to have some wine on the way, and looking forward to visiting them in two weeks when out in the valley.

We’ve had the pleasure of meeting Renee and Dustin at their home and hearing about their wine journey over a couple of really exemplary glasses of wine. Suffice it to say that a they are enthusiastic, well connected in the wine community, and dedicated to making the best possible bottle from their prime acre.

As mentioned above, the components are all there…prime land, older vines, informed vineyard management and inspired winemaking…they have assembled a team of friends who also happen to be industry benchmarks for quality and it shows.

The red is perfumed and subtle, with aeration hints of spice box or black raspberry, cassis and blackberry. A whiff of pepper, and then it’s gone. Balance is spot on as this floats on the palate even at this young age (had been decanted about an hour or so) to a long and multifaceted finish. Structure is there but coated in fruit. Soil includes a lot of obsidian and minerals…I’m sure we’ll get more details.

White was a revelation, on the citrus side of Sauv Blanc rather than grass. To me, it’s as if someone made a Raveneau grand cru chablis out of Napa Sauvignon Blanc. Like the red, full of subtle hints…pineapple, then touch of grass maybe, then minerals. Balance also lovely and fine finish…I can’t wait to try this with a classic French style fish dish…beurre blanc or some light cream sauce.

Both were glasses that we could linger over and thoroughly enjoy…highly recommended.

PS: Dustin shared with us the new wood cases…

Whelp. I am finishing my 3rd bottle real quick

Shit is super fire

Only had one of the SB while in napa and is my fave napa SB ive ever had. I generally prefer some semillon to cut the SB grapefruit and grass and shit. But that was dynamite.

The cab? Well. I just opened my third in 2 weeks to show to friends. It’s fire.

Ohh man, its just too soon. We have been going 110 mph so really haven’t had a lot of time to do a lot of pairings. We did do some scallops recently with a nice glaze that was AMAZING with the SB.

No one has Pobega’d one of these yet?

Ive been thinking about doing that exact pairing!

After spending time with Dustin when he was here in Fort Worth, my family and I got to experience Mowe at its best during our Napa trip last week.

Dustin and Renee graciously hosted our group (which ended up being larger than expected, yet they didn’t bat an eye) at their beautiful home and property. The ‘22s showed just as beautiful as they did a few weeks prior during my first experience with them, and the ‘23s are worthy of all the previous comments I’ve read here (though the ‘22s here are the finest from that vintage I’ve had across the valley). The special treat at the end was a sneak peek at the “Renee’s barrel” sample…very ‘23 in style with a kiss of opulence while still retaining freshness (that seems to be a Mowe hallmark in these early days, which I love).

Ready for my wines to arrive on Monday!

Received mine. Dumb question, no wood case ? Sent sure if it’s supposed to be in one until I saw the pics above?

Hi Bill, when you placed your order there was an option where you could request a custom wood box or standard packaging. If you would like, I am happy to send you a box. Just let me know via email at dustin@mowenapavalley.com
