I’ve never been to the Copper Vine. It has a reputation for being a pretty good restaurant that is very convenient to the Superdome and Smoothie King Center.
If you are willing to walk 5-7 blocks there are some better choices, like Herbsaint, St. John, Peche, August, Emerils Wine Bar. I’ve never been, but Morrow Steak is 3 blocks from there.
Coquette was open for like 18 years or so. I didn’t dine there in the early years, but around 2018-2019, Kristin Essig was running the kitchen, and those were the peak years for me. Thalia was her project, but then the pandemic happened, and she and Stoltzfus split up. Coquette had some good moments after that but was never quite the same. We probably dined there 3-4 times during and post pandemic, with April being the weakest visit. Also the wine list had been small and a little quirky, but interesting. In April it was downright bare bones.
Sorry to hear about Coquette. 10 years or so ago that place was rocking.

I mean, these are all pretty decent suggestions. Lots of other stuff going on, but it’s not a bad start. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art is worth a visit in my view. But I like Studio Be too, which is closing in a couple weeks for a full reworking, first if several years.
She brings up Zasu again, which reminds me - we made another visit last month after returning home from summer up north. it was good. As I said up thread, not michelin star for me. A very good neighborhood restaurant. But we live in uptown, not midcity and there are so many good restaurants around us to compete. The other reason we won’t hurry back is the noise level, which is interesting as they closed for a week over the summer to add acoustic dampening panels. Seems like the problem is the area of the dining room with booths and a lower ceiling acts as a major amplifier.
I’ll second both the Ogden Museum and StudioBE. Sorry to hear StudioBE will be closing, but from a video on Instagram it seems it is only for two months.
Yeah, bmike is still involved so it should be fun. It’s been a while, so will try to get there in the next couple of weeks.
I know it is a major tourist thing, but we haven’t been to the WWiI museum in over 10 years. It was still very dday centric back then - seems like it has expanded a lot. Will have to get there some time. The other place we debate about with our local friends is the Storyville Museum in the quarter. None of us has every been. Not sure if it is tourist trap or what. We walked by there the other night, on the way to Bayona and the Swampus parade. it looked a little commercial-ish, and the admission is on the expensive side for NO museums. Welcome any first hand feedback. The subject is interesting.
BTW, Bayona was okay, not great. Would not go out of my way to go back there anytime soon. Also, the wine list was a shadow of its former self, and they don’t allow corkage because their wine list is so great. Susan Spicer is long gone of course, sold her interest a while ago and hadn’t cooked there in years before that. She is retiring from Rosedale as well.
I didn’t realize that she was gone. We went there for my birthday this year. Definitely not what it used to be.
