New Napa Winery: Trailside Vineyards (team-up between Carlton McCoy and Dujac's Jeremy Seysses)

Napa cab made by Dujac’s Jeremy Seysses, Nico Cueva of Haynes, and Carlton McCoy. Curious what this could taste like! Looks like the 2022 vintage release is coming February 26th. No word yet on pricing.

I’ll play. Gonna say $325 and you have to buy a three pack

Alright folks what is the over/under on $250/btl here

Edit: changed to over/under

Of note…Heitz Trailside is currently priced $200. Not sure they could go under this? My guess is $250 and three pack.

Pretty sure @CarltonMcCoy is a board member here. Maybe he will chime in…

Yea I imagine it will be over $200 but I love the ethos that Carlton has created with Lawrence. It will be interesting to hear more about this project - thanks for sharing

$175 base napa cab cost
$75 fancy wood box on the website
$100 dujac connection premium
$25 a bunch of people involved in the project

$375 a bottle, minimum 3 bottle

Considering how Lawrence Wine Estates has repriced the rest of its portfolio, I think those guesses with a 3 handle are strong.

Honestly I could see this…

Now the question is if I take that money and get 3 of these or 2 bottles of Heitz Trailside + 1 bottle of Dujac Clos de la Roche :joy:

So is @Jeremy_Seysses

Whole clusters in a Napa Cab?

Had a 1987 Montelena last week that was really eye opening. Super welcoming of return to that style.

This caught my eye: “We’re willing to explore techniques that are rooted in tradition, but uncommonly seen in Napa Valley…” Curious what, specifically, they went with.

Back in the day that was a good value play, I haven’t kept up with the price but I’m shocked it’s that high-my $40.00 bottles seem like a bargain

A new Napa wine project?
In this economy?

I think it has to be materially more. I imagine the thesis is that they’re making the juice anyway and have the infrastructure, so change winemakers, slap on a new label/brand, and capture more margin.

in 2017 I went to Heitz, tasted for free (which didnt even require a purchase) and was buying 2007 Trailsides at $80 a bottle. Those were the days
