New Macdonald Vineyard in Spring Mountain

Antonio Galloni just shared on his forum that Graham and Sarah Macdonald purchased the Atchley Vineyard in Spring Mountain on Oct 6. Can’t wait to see what they do with it!

Fingers crossed this moves some folks up on the waitlist with the potential increase in production.

^^ Except it’s not the vineyard and vines that people want and covet

Exciting news! … but isn’t the easiest way to pay for expansion … :rocket:

It sounds like not just a vineyard source but a place where you could live and raise a family. Pretty cool.

Glad to see a family and not some corporation come in and buy this.

As I understand it, this is not a MacDonald expansion or directly part of MacDonald. It is owned by Graeme and Sarah and is as much for their children, in the future, as for themselves.

There are a few acres of Cab on the property, but it needs a replant so there will not be any wine coming from the vineyard for several years.

The property is from the 1880s and even has a hand carved cave from the 19th century.

Here are a couple of pictures of the vineyard and the cave from a month ago. It will be very interesting to see how this property develops.

I would kill for my own cave.

The cave also looks like it needs a bit of work!

Speak for yourself!! Spring Mtn is my thing, love to see what they eventually do there. Atchley currently goes into 7&8 Vineyards wine. Wonder how long that lease is?
