Anyone redone a kitchen lately or at least purchased new appliances? We are beginning a remodel and somewhat torn between Bosch, Thermador and GE Monogram. Would welcome any thoughts!

Waiting 2 weeks for parts to come in for our Bosch fridge. Icemaker not working properly and freezer not properly regulating the temperature. Had to replace similar parts already once. Fridge installed May 2022.
Multiple threads on appliances here in Asylum btw.
Thermador is a premium brand known for its high-performance appliances. They are often favored by professional chefs and homeowners who want top-of-the-line equipment.
Iāve had thermador since 2019 and happy with the products. 48ā gas range, 30ā wall electric oven, hood for the range and column refrigerator/feeezer
One complaint - 2 led bulbs in fridge went out. They donāt give part numbers and just say call for service. Was covered under warranty but took the tech 20 mins to even access the bulbs. Kinda silly if you ask me.
Our DCS gas range has finally come to the end of its lifespan, as 2 burners, the broil function (therefore the self-clean also) no longer work, despite two separate & somewhat pricey service calls. Going to go down market slightly this time and save a few bucks. Good burner technology appears to be widespread now.
Was a good run.
im doing a new build and highly likely to do a miele cooktop & oven, and liebherr fridge.
We did ours in 2021. Went with Wolf range, Sub Zero fridge, and Miele dishwasher. Weāve been happy with all of them and I think Iād pick the same again if I were starting over (with the disclaimer that I havenāt paid attention to what has changed in the market since we bought).
We went with Thermador in 2017. Had to replace a relay board in the oven last year, other than that working well
Mix/match the best you like. As gas leaks (even while off) consider induction. At minimum, bring enough amps to switch to induction in the future! Both Miele and Thermador are well-regarded for their induction cooktops by local contractors. I have a Thermador range top and its knobs have less āplayā than the previous Wolf range top; the star is ok, but I would prefer a donut or an open burner (e.g., BlueStar). We have a Bosch electric oven+microwave combo; I had thought the pull-down door for the microwave would drive me crazy but itās alright. Miele warming drawer is nice and avoids the space consumed by a second full-sized oven. Bosch 800-series dishwasher has been great, when used with the correct detergent for your water hardness (we required some experimentation here).
We went double ovens vs a single and warming drawer. Was not that much more the full oven which has a warming setting and is a bonus during holiday cooking
Thanks everyone for the great feedback!
Iāve been surprisingly happy with GE Monogram and Cafe as well as their basic line. Few issues and when there are, the service program is excellent and quick.
I mentioned this somewhere else. We remodeled our kitchen back in 2005 when Viking was all the rage. I did some research and stumbled upon DCS. Bought the double wall oven, five burner cooktop and range hood. The cooktop and range hood are still going strong, but the double wall oven (that I think I paid $7-8k for) had problems within a few years and kicked the bucket completely right before the pandemic. Bought a GE Profile to replace it for $2100. IMHO, other than the fact that the racks on the DCS were all on wheels and slid in and out easier, Iām 100x happier with the GE. Heats faster, holds temps better, can preheat via an app.
Iām done with the super high end appliances. I want them to look good and function well, but reliability and price is paramount.
We like our Miele dishwashers a lot. For us, better than Bosch. (And if you are lucky enough to have a situation where you could conceivably have two dishwashers, do it. We did it in our beach house where we entertain a lot, and itās a godsend.)
If youāre in the market for a pro-style gas range, we like the Blue Star we got. Fridge-wise we went for the biggest Samsung side-by-side. We arenāt fans of French door fridges.
assuming you have their fridge, how do you find the noise level? i know all new ones are a lot better than the older units.
I had an all-Miele kitchen about 10 years ago and the only part that I wasnāt fond of was the cooktop. It needed frequent repairs that were difficult to schedule and it never quite performed as advertised. But Iād be optimistic that things have changed since then.
interesting! i think there is often lemons/semi lemons so yea im not surprised. and im open to other brands and will be considering who will be repairing if necessary.
I have the Fridge, the stove and the combo microwave. I havenāt noticed any issue with noise level on the fridge except for ice cubes dropping in the bucket.
Another positive experience with a full set of Thermador since 2015. Note that the Thermador and Bosch dishwashers are the same machine with minor differences in rack design.
We redid our kitchen last year, but the only appliance item we needed to replace was the cooktop. Went with the Bluestar Platinum and couldnāt be happier with it. Incredibly precise heat and because of the open burner design, it delivers it very evenly as compared to the closed options that force the heat outside. We were concerned it would be hard to keep clean, but quite the opposite provided you donāt have massive spillovers. Routine stuff is easy and no big deal. It is built like a tank, easily adjustable and can be disassembled if you really need to clean deep. Highly recommend.
Be sure you get a high quality vent hood that moves a lot of air. Thatās a long and fairly technical engineering discussion.
