New Jersey (NNJ/CNJ) Nov. 19

When: Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30

Where: Basilico, 324 Millburn Ave., Millburn, NJ (Located downtown and close to NJ Transit)

Theme: Wines from any region that are 50% or more Cabernet Sauvignon. As you know, these can represent some of the best and most interesting wines in the world, and so it will make for an interesting tasting.

*Requirements: Bring at least one bottle that costs at least $75 to $100. Although not required, you are welcome to bring more than one bottle. I plan to do this. It could be interesting to compare two different regions, or two bottles from the same region, wines of different vintages, two wines from the same producer, etc.

Alternatively, if you are inclined to bring more than one bottle, you could bring a white or sparkling for variety. For instance, champagne was brought last time and it worked well.

But no pressure - all that is required is the one bottle.

*Blind: yes, it will be a blind tasting so bring any bottles concealed in a bag, foil, or cover. (The exception would be if you bring a white or sparkling).

Cost: Splitting the bill, I think all in with gratuity it ends up being roughly $100 per person.

The History: We had a Barolo dinner in July that about 12 Berserkers showed up for and everyone had a very good time. Originally, I posted this dinner in the prior thread for that dinner, but after some switching of the dates–I mistakenly had scheduled this themed night for Election Night–I am putting it up new and fresh here.

If You Are Interested: Please reply here, on this thread, if interested, even if you previously replied on the prior thread.

I’m in!

Thanks Eric

Hi everyone, sorry for the lateness of this reply, been scrambling a bit on this trip. Unfortunately, have to confirm that I’m booked for the 19th and won’t be able to come. I hope to meet everyone at some point in the future, and will wish for no corked or oxidized bottles for you. Look forward to read any reports and thanks for considering to include me.

Mike

Hi all, I have to bow out too. Too many things going on this week + work has gotten a little crazy!

Sorry Mike and Ian can’t make it. Are others still interested? Please confirm so we have a final head count. Thanks!

In and might have another Bizerker coming with me but I’ll let you know.

Are we blinding the bottles or showing them off from the get go?

I think we should blind since it is a Cab free for all. Like to see how well my palate is at discerning differences without forethought

I can bring a white as well - if no one is bringing that and we want something to start with

Sounds good!

Eric,
Thanks for organizing one again. Loved the venue and theme but most of all getting together with some great folks to enjoy some fabulous wines.

The veal chop Milanese was fantastic and was a beautiful accompaniment to the pairings.
