Some new German wines have arrived downtown and prices look pretty good. Most are 2014 and I am tempted to sample Kuhling-Gillot, Georg Mosbacher…plus some library releases from Querbach (2001, 2002). Any opinions welcome!
Kühling-Gillot makes great wines, but I’d picky regarding vintages. For example, I didn’t like their 2011 (but other people I know are crazy about 2011). Mosbacher is classic Mittelhaardt Pfalz Riesling. People say they had a weak phase middle of the 00s. Funnily enough, two Mosbacher Rieslings from 2004 and 2005 were the group’s favorite wines in two blind horizontals this and last year. I haven’t tried the most recent vintages, but the opinion out there says Mosbacher is now on par again with the best in the Pfalz, i.e. Bürklin-Wolf, Christmann, Bassermann-Jordan and others. As to Querbach, I’d definitely go for some of those older Rieslings, they’re spectacular (yet with some bottle variation) and not expensive. 2001 is great right now, but you won’t go wrong with 2002 either (both is best). Their closure is crown cork.
Thank you very much Steven, appreciate your valued opinion. Will be purchasing asap.

Have been enjoying my small selection of 2014 Kuhling-Gillot, only wish I could have purchased more.
