Emmanuel Brochet Le Mont Benoit Extra Brut NV. I have never heard of Brochet before, but WOW. I was totally blown away by the wine. It has everything I look for in a nice full bodied champagne. Slightly oxidized style. Yeasty, nutty, mushroomy. Slight touch of salinity. This bad boy was complex and loooooong. Needless to say, picked up a few bottles.
Anyone had any experience with Emmanuel Brochet Champagnes?
I haven’t but the CT notes are solid!
Really good stuff across the range and the ability to make low dosage taste good. It is a bit of a mystery to me that Brochet hasn’t reached the status of folks like Chartogne, Bereche, Laherte, and others. He is much more popular outside of the US which is also a head scratcher as his wines are awesome from top to bottom.
Excellent producer. Much like Brad, I’m surprised the wines haven’t attained the cult status of some other RMs. However, if you’re factoring price/quality rather than scarcity that’s a plus!
