Hey, man! Hope you are doing well. Seeing this reminds me I need to open up a bottle of your wine tonight!
Still holding onto a bottle, as i think time will be VERY good to this wine! Cheers!
Update-
Opened one last night. About an hour decant. This wine is really nice right now. On the somewhat brighter side of the Zin spectrum, with good acid, some snap and light tannins. Delicious, but no rush.
Fall release is live. They are also hosting a pickup party at Canon in Sacramento on 10/30. Can’t wait to try the wine!
Yup, see you there!
What’s on offer for this release? Was gonna do a 50/50 Syrah/Zin but doesn’t seem like the Syrah is available yet. (At least to me.)
2021 Zin and 2021 Sauvignon Blanc. From the email:
The 2021 Syrah is spending a bit more time in bottle and I will release that in the winter, for those that are wondering.
Picked up a 6 pack, 3 of each, excited to try these.
Should have added this link earlier - sorry for the delay. Notes on some of the Perch wines are included in this Grape-Nutz write-up (about 2/3 of the way down the page):
Notes from visit with Adam Saake in May
Adam, it was great to meet you and taste with you. Loved the meals at Guantonio’s in Lodi too!
Thanks! In for a case.
Nice write-up from the esteemed Mike Dunne…
Adam is making some great wines. His Syrah’s are so good. I love Mikes writing, and he’s been doing it for a long time. On my “Indie Wine Podcast” I interviewed both Mike and Adam, Mike in episode 6 and Adam in episode 14. Both are great people.
+1 on that.
I happened to meet Mike at a charity thing a while back. I was eager to talk to him, as I’d enjoyed his writing for a long time. To my amazement, he seemed equally eager to talk to me. Really engaging, friendly, and genuine. His wife Martha is equally delightful.
Mike recently published a book, “The Signature Wines of Superior California: 50 Wines that Define the Sierra Foothills, the Delta, Yolo and Lodi," which I need to get around to reading.
His very nice debut release was no fluke. These are wines of place, and I’m excited for the Fall release. I had a chance to try the Barbera mentioned in the article, and it’s as described.
Should this be on BerserkerDay 15??
Paging @ADSaake …
Mike’s book is a fun read, we talk about it a bit on the podcast. He’s been such a champion for the under represented and overlooked areas of California for a long time. El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, Clarksburg, Lodi - all these areas that can produce wonderful wines of place.
I haven’t tried Adam’s Barbera yet but the Zins and Cinsault are pretty top notch.
Fall release is up. Good-looking lineup.
Never had the wines but love those labels.
Looking forward to trying these - flat rate shipping is very reasonable
I think this sounds like a good idea. First timer, I’ll follow the lead.
