As a former New Yorker (Manhattanite) now living in Irvine, I have found some acceptable restaurants in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Irvine.
However, we will be spending some time in South County (San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point and San Clemente) and need some recommendations.
Anyone?
Hi Marlene!! Good to see you on here!
Here are some of my recs for South OC. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Thanks for the reccos. I will try some of them!
Todd–This is a cool site. When did you start it?
January - and we’re almost at 100k posts!!!
It’s the quality of the membership (if you don’t count Posner, Saxon, and Landreth, that is) as a testament to keeping people around.
Dublin 4 in Mission Viejo. Cozy little gastro pub serving top notch food. It’s next door to Wineworks for Everyone wine bar/restaurant that also serves great food. In fact they are owned by same couple and they share a kitchen.
4 of us had:
Mussels in a creamy broth - hands down the best mussel dish I have ever had, sopping up every drop of sauce with bread. Was topped with thin cut fries which also found there way into the sauce. Wonderful
Potato pancakes cooked in duck fat - had a very Irish brown gravy on top
Fish and chips with mashed peas - perfect
Lamb burger - best ever, really quality, gamy meat
Hanger steak - great
Scallops - in a fresh pea ragout - perfect again!
Fries - have to have perfect fries for my wife to call the place good, they have both thin cut and thick and they are again perfect
Bread pudding - great
Wonderful beer list both on tap and bottled, cocktails and wine list (which I didn’t even look at)
Finished with an Irish coffee which again was perfect!
This place gets it and is officially on my rotation. Blows Havens Gastropub out of the water!

You mean Broadway?
Four years after the OP!
yes, opened in Five Feet location. Friends who know food are flipping over it; I have not gone yet–and don’t even know the correct name.

Been twice and I flipped twice. Great food, service. $25 corkage and a decent list to boot. Nice setting too much better ambiance than Five Feet was. If you go with six request the round table in back.
