When we first saw our house, 19 years ago, the most memorable thing, to me, was that it had a professional gas grill (from the '60s) and restaurant hood in the kitchen. The brand, Majestic, is long defunct. The grill needs repair (it has a pilot) and there are no parts.
Rather than improvising parts, I’d like to find a newer model to replace it. Essentially, we have a 30" cutout in our granite counters, below the huge exhaust hood. So, ideally, we’d like to find something that can be dropped into the same cutout.
On internet searches, I’ve seen that Bluestar and Capital seem to make such items, though they are pricy. A company called FirePro does, too, but it is being re-designed and won’t be ready till this fall.
Anyone have any [other] suggestions/experience with these companies’ indoor gas grills? We do need to have something there that works, so a grill is the easiest option…and having a grill all these years has been a great option.
Sorry dont know anyone who has a grill indoors other than the old jen airs…and all I heard about them was really hard to clean.
That being said, I have heard nothing but great things about bluestar.
I just redid my kitchen with ge cafe as bluestar would have made my house way too expensive for the area…nothing but good things to say about that line so far. I love the drop in cooktop.
Thermador Professional Grill in 1995 , stainless . still good 4-15000 BTU gas burners , gas griddle & grill with 2 electric ovens, one convection , one proofing with broiler.
We cook alot !
The ventilation is not an issue for me. What’s there now is an industrial-strength (ie, too many BTU) '60s restaurant grill and corresponding hood. The grill has died (without parts); the hood thrives and was even cleaned last summer by a professional service. Finding a replacement for the grill is the issue.
I’m told that Capital is not actually for indoors…do you know? I called a kitchen supplier who carried both brands…and they said only Bluestar is for indoors. Now, I’m really confused.
