Myriad Standing Order?

Whose jumping in? Any idea what the financial commitment is?

I did, it’s pretty hefty but I like the wines.

as did I - I have been a perennial buyer and the quantities are more or less what I would order.

Saw that also. Myriad describes it as 2-4 bottles of each Cabernet wine, shipped in 12-bottle cases. I think Myriad intends three cab releases, so guessing this amounts to 3 cases a year.
Love their wines, but 36 cabs from one winery is too much for me even if it’s spread over 10 diff bottlings. I rarely buy more than 6 cabs from anyone in a year.

An aside- After arguing in a different thread that domestic wineries seem to honor one’s buying history and place in the queue with regard to tightly allocated wine & not let a newer, deeper pocketed buyer jump their place in line; this seems to be an example where a new buyer could swoop in ahead of long time buyers by dropping a lot of cash.

it’s a wine club, certainly a good to way to get all the sku’s sold.

Without a club discount.

If they had some flexibility in terms of which wines and how many I might be tempted to do a standing order with them, but this structure isn’t compelling for me

While I am passing for the same reasons as you, I believe the email said this was only offered to long term Tier One customers. That means you’d at least have to have a relationship before swooping in to steal allocations just because you have deep pockets.

This^^^^ I was also surprised it took this long for someone to post about it.

I visited in 2016 but haven’t purchased a bottle since (just not my style). Despite Unsubscribing, I continue to receive allocation offers.

The “Tier One Top Customer” standing designation attributed to me comes across similar to the fulsome text messages I get from a certain political operation that I never supported in the first place.

The email concludes:

"Once the Tier is full their will be a Waitlist Tier for those who wish to join if anyone leaves the Standing Order Allocation Tier.

Important Please Note: Tier One Member regular offerings will likely decrease in half due to this added new tier. If you would like a full allocation of the Myriad Cabernets, this is the opportunity for this allocation."

That’s what the mailing list is for and it works well.

They do A-List offerings, then Tier 1, then waitlist.

I’m in. Mike and Leah are good people and these are great wines. I usually buy about 2 cases a year from them anyway.

I don’t think I connect with many buyers of napa cabs, but do buyers really seek out this type of model, a few bottles of every sku?

I love the wines and will keep buying off the mailing list if offered but this model is the exact opposite of my ideal way to buy.

I usually get 1-2 of each wine they release and a bunch of Semillon but my budget can’t handle more than that. Seeing that my Wife doesn’t drink Cab I run into the problem of my Cab holdings far outweighing my consumption.

Seems to me that this may cause a flood of secondary market offers in a few years. Who can realistically consume (or even store over years) 36 bottles of Cab from one producer. Might sound like it’s getting “in” now but from my experience as the bottles pile up getting out may become the goal.

I’m not commenting on the quality or my preference of the wine as I’ve never had one. I just doubt it’s a sustainable model.

I am and have been a fan of Mike and Leah. We really enjoy their wines but this model does not work for us. It’s ok. I will buy what I like of what I am offered in whatever tier I may end up.

In for now. They seem to be expanding the number of vineyards aggressively so it makes me weary. I really only want the beckstoffer wines

All interesting takes. I had thought about this for a split minute, but reality says it’s too rich for my wallet. I love their Semillon and Rose, but have limited experience on the cabs. Have thoroughly enjoyed those that I’ve had, but too much of a commitment.

Interestingly, I never thought of it as a wine club until mentioned above, but makes sense. Thanks all for the input. Not sure why I didn’t connect the dots…
