The price increase from 19 to 21 is
About 100$
Sorry that ws on the Myriad Dr Crane Elysian
Regardless of the change of my palate preferences, I’m priced out at the currently release price. 60% since 2019 hits hard.
I’m on the list but too rich for my blood.
I purchased the 2018 vintage and haven’t since. Looking back this makes 2018 look cheap by comparison.
I got one of each of the big 3 but even that was hard to swallow. At some point it’s gotta burst. Curious if they sell thru these especially with 23 looking to be a better vintage. But a lot of us will be if not already are priced out.
Last year was a tough price to take but was a big milestone year so I purchased anyway. Can’t justify another increase this big sadly. Curious to see how these sell.
Maybe i am overthinking but is this the price of the grapes, making up for last year or ? In this style I am thinking maybe I should allocate to Maybach which is next week
I’m guessing there will be a big price increase for Maybach as well since they didnt have much to sell last year and I dont think their prices went up a ton for the 2019 vintage. Really great wine though (and I generally like Materium more than Myriad Cabs).
These price increases make me feel less guilty for passing on the offers. At some point, the pricing no longer makes sense, regardless of how their production costs have increased.
i think since i have 19 Myriad i will go with the Maybach have to economize somewhere thanks
My first purchase was in 2019 and I’m getting a little sticker shock over the new release as well.
I’m in the same boat as everyone else. I’m sure with all their 100pt scores they can justify the prices, but at $300 a bottle I’d rather shift that spend to Kindman-Eades new offerings.
I absolutely understand the concern about pricing. However, the dr crane Elysian is one of the best cabs produced in CA. Compared to Harlan, Scarecrow, Abreu it can be argued it’s undervalued. Year after year it’s consistently always in my best wines I’ve drank that year
I don’t doubt you Steve, just a tough pill to swallow when it used to be $200 and is $300 now.
Understood
How much was Scarecrow or Harlan when it was first released and what is the current release price for them. Just for comparison sake
Because we all know that Beckstoffer fruit never goes up and winemakers never het offered better blocks within the existing vineyards and costs never rise.
Have you priced a Big Mac lately?
i will still get scarecrow as my preference over crane. they are not the same wine very different have to save somewhere for the scarecrow as far as QPR give me a case of macdonald i do thank every response in helping me to decide what to decide
Such a fascinating discussion - and one that shows cost structures if you’re going to work with really expensive fruit.
Price hikes are always a challenge, especially when they appear to be as high as this one. I’m sure there are good reasons why the price change was made - but with as many wine choices as there are out there these days, folks seem to be a bit more selective in the past.
