Mud Daubers

Yellow-legged mud daubers are thin-waisted (“petiole” actually) wasps that make nests using mud. Mud daubers are not aggressive but not directly beneficial for vineyards. You can find nests along house or barn eaves and other secure places, but we got some in our bottle storage area.

Closely related here is a video of a tarantula hawk I made at our place. Female wasp towing a male tarantula paralyzed by her so her larva can feed on him. Surely any male touched by love can identify with him
