Julia Santen is one of the country’s foremost experts in vintage poster art. She was not aware of the Carlu Mouton label being massed produced as poster art. Too bad.

Mouton actually had a blank label for the 1993 for shipping into countries like the U.S. The Balthus label is very polarizing.

I tend to prefer the labels that accentuated the ram.

Would luv to get my hands on the limited production blank label(4000 case production)…not sure I would consider the pic polarizing…from my understanding it was an approved label here in the U.S…
but a sexual assault group out west made a big stink about it and the (ATF?) pulled the plug.

Mouton does print enlarged versions of at least some labels. Here’s a picture of my print of the 1982 label with a 750ml bottle of 2000 Carruades des Lafite for scale (wrong Rothschild branch, I know).

It’s a beautiful print on heavy card stock and all of the gold printing is embossed.

I saved one of the bottles, it’s an elegant sketch.

Actually the Baroness decided to pull the plug due to the controversy. A good call because it neutralized any further protest, limited as it was, but it also made for good publicity.

Tell an associate to frame them (probably one frame with multiple labels surrounded by matting, though it depends on the number of labels you have. You could also make a few triptychs). They’d look great in your office.
