Most useless tasting note I've ever seen...

Just saw this epic metaphor in a CT note:

If a date, this was a 35 year old former lingerie model Harvard MBA, currently working as an elite escort: Beauty and brains to create a memorable evening.

Certainly anyone who posts a note and does not like the wine and is too lazy to revisit later that day or day 2 or 3 qualifies.

Late to the party, but I have a bottle of this in the fridge…haven’t tried it yet.

Make sure to add a tasting note.

Dom Perignon 2008:
ā€œAmazing wine from the Gilosā€ - 12/5/21

Yquem 2001:
ā€œSo young…so greatā€¦ā€ 12/5/01

ā€œNever disappoints. Enjoyed sharing it with Poker Club dinner.ā€ 10/20/21

Krug 168eme:
ā€œKathy thought it was tangyā€ - 11/27/21

ā€œ98 points
Purchased with my Visa gift cardā€

Epic uselessness

Probably would’ve been a 100 point wine if it was purchased with an AMEX credit card. :stuck_out_tongue:

ā€œOff bottle. Not corked but still and syrupy. Bought at Costco.ā€

ā€œNice solid finish to Thanksgiving.ā€ (You’d think maybe a dessert wine right? Nope… Napa Cab)

User still rates this wine an 81 when they rate it a do not like and it smelled like feet.

Maybe you are being a little harsh. If the bottle is flawed, the description does not need to be analyzed. And while the 2nd note has no use whatsoever, what’s wrong with ending Thanksgiving with a cab? Maybe thanksgiving was at noon?

I call 88 my ā€œhigh expectation averageā€, where I am a bit discerning, I don’t have exposure to many wines on the low end, so 88 is a wine I can drink, enjoy, and not complain about. 81, I would be complaining about it in some small regard, as this person did.

These should probably be labeled as private notes not public.

I would put it in the sub <80 scoring.

I’m not a WS stan, but 80+ seems too high for what the note suggests. A wine suffering TCA for me is a flaw.

2018 Conundrum Wines Red (USA, California) 90 points (total of around 24 times). No notes just 90 points and once 91 points

I bought the anniversary edition at Costco for Thanksgiving because my family was having guests that like wine, but aren’t INTO wine. I thought it would be a good wine to offer (I brought several options). They passed on that and went straight for the Burgundy and Champagne. :stuck_out_tongue:

If its flawed, mark it flawed. I didn’t see any flaw description, just a complaining note, which I have done on 81 point score. I feel like you are not posting to the subject of this thread.

Feet smell is a sign of TCA which to me puts it under the flawed category.

ā€œThere’s also a sweaty dirty sock descriptor, which is more of a pungent, stinky foot smell that might remind you of a locker room or a horsey barnyard. That’s from brettanomyces, or ā€œbrett,ā€ which is considered a spoilage yeast.ā€

Smart family to go to the good stuff!!! champagne.gif [cheers.gif]

I’ll try this experiment again for NYE… put a variety of champagnes to choose from and see what people want to open. See if they inherently try to suss out the good stuff.
