Most useless tasting note I've ever seen...

Is it just some people treating CT notes as a blog? It’s the self centred thing, “look what I just did”.

What? I use Cellar Tracker all the time to make buying decisions. It is certainly more reliable than the critics with the overinflated scores.

Barry the 15 Ardanza is amazing and under $30.

All it is (for the most part) is peeps not realizing they can just leave themselves a private note vs. A public one. Straight up user error…but sometimes hilarious user error

Im sure that’s factor in some cases. (That is a very handy feature) but i still think there’s also there’s the ‘blog’ element.

“Absolutely undrinkable, but I finished it anyways”

Could have been their last bottle in the house? [wow.gif]

Maybe written by Johnny Knoxville ?

I think Johnny is into the hard stuff with all those crazy stunts. My back hurts bad enough just playing golf!

I have no idea what this wine is like based on this note. I particularly like that it’s “round and without any angles”, though I don’t really know what angles are in a wine.

Vinous (Rebbecca Gibb MW) 95 points! “The 2017 Chinon Clos de la Dioterie retains its great depth of color and feels incredibly young compared with many other 2017s from the region. Demonstrating excellent concentration and full body, it is round and without any angles. There’s plenty of stuffing here, yet it remains elegant and coats the mouth with a delightfully fine tannic veil. You could drink it now, but that would be infanticide. If you like classy Right Bank wines that use Cabernet Franc as their base, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at this wine.”

Maybe I’m missing something, but I think that is a pretty darned good tasting note that is more descriptive than 98% of CT notes. Concentration, full body, round, elegant, coats the mouth, fine tannic veil, classy RIght Bank - this is a cornucopia of excellent descriptors. How you can put this note in a thread devoted to useless TNs is mind-boggling…

Maybe cos the note focuses on style and structure rather decomposing the flavours. If you know Chinon, it could help you decide whether to get it; but if, like me, you don’t then it’s less helpful. But def waaay better than the “Used it to deglaze the pan and drank the rest with Suzie” type of note.

Richard this is a good use of cellar tracker. I have tasted well over a 1,000 Aussie Shiraz wines and this one is not very good so the information is valuable for others. Yes there are a lot of people posting 94 points for Meiomi Pinot Noir but those are easy to weed out and see users who add great value to making purchases.

2011 Clarendon Hills Syrah Liandra - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon (4/16/2022)
Day 1: This one is not doing it for me. Very light for a Syrah especially from Australia. Almost diluted. Beef, light red currants, underbrush and damp earth. Mild spices on the finish. Lacks concentration and excitement. 85 points

Anyone who just scores a wine and gives it a low score and does not justify the score in words.

Inverse Tolstoy.

Maybe the most humorous.

“capable of converting even the staunchest of Bordeaux-philes.”

For sure made up wine reviews that rip a wine and it is your one and only post would be up there.

Also nice to see a great wine reviewer like Burgundy Al with the most notes for a sixth month period. Great notes and how does he do it?

2018 Geyserville - “Consumed over a week ago, and I only remember that it wasn’t at all memorable. 89-90, but I like to submit reviews and scores.”

Well there is a dedicated wine reviewer for you!

And implausible.
