Mosel Bernkastel wines to buy in 2024 Markus Molitor and Schloss Lieser

Hi there,
I have a friend traveling to Mosel, Bernkastel and I am asking them to buy some wine with them and I am currently sending them to two wine yards:

  • Markus Molitor
  • and Weingut Schloss Lieser Thomas Haag

And now to the question: What wines? There are so many different wines produced in these two Winguts alone it is hard to know exactly what to go for. I don’t have endless money, so I am going for the 15-30 EUR bottles I am thinking… But here is my first attempt:

From Markus Molitor the red ones are easy:
2018 Brauneberger Mandelgraben* Pinot Noir
2016 House Klosterberg Pinot Noir

But the whites are the ones they are known for and I really want to get it right, what would you go for?

And Schloss Lieser i have no clue - but read about them as being fantastic. What would you choose?

Thanks a lot for all tips and insights.

I recommend getting the styles you usually enjoy (dry vs off dry vs dessert etc). While Molitor makes tons of great wine, I think the Green Caps tend to stand out more vs the competition. Lieser generally makes bigger, more powerful wine, and in my opinion, does a better job with the Pradikat wines rather than the GGs.

Tehy are two fantastic producers, so it’s pretty hard to go wrong.
