Monthly check-in: Cellar inventory reduction plan

Out: 2 (1 consumed and plan to open something tonight)

At this rate of consumption we’ll never need to purchase another bottle. I’m just in a period where I’m not getting the itch to pull corks very often and not really sure why. Maybe being on Ozempic?

I’ve set a token goal to go down at least 10 bottles a month for the rest of the year.

A month with 25 mags enjoyed at a pre-birthday long lunch, some sales and only a few deliveries makes me finish at -59 for the month, a good score and so far down 166 YTD

My collection is half way around the world. We return in early July, and then, the corks shall fly!

Clearing out another 350 or so this week. Should finally get me down to around 400. Perhaps even less

next move is to get rid of 2 of my 3 fridges

This is by far the least buying we have ever done in 11 years of marriage.

Was doing well with upping my personal consumption and not buying but Pavillions had a big sale and it was time to restock my house white. Then again those dont really count

May: 15 out, 15 in - flat. This could have been another reduction, but there were too many wine events and pickups in the mix (Sandar & Hem, HVS at Fort Mason, Windy Oaks, Walter Scott dinner). 1st world problems

A week of travel in a no-corkage-allowed city, and a couple of bottles purchased from the May 31 K&L “Insider’s Advantage” offer, cost me my shot at a negative month.

+3 for May (at least it was an improvement over April)
+80 YTD

Six months to go. We can still make it a negative year!

I already knew before going into the month, it was going to be a bad one. A last-minute request from Ed Kurtzman to help bottle at Freeman made it even worse. Akiko generously gave me a full case as payment which I did not expect.

I realize this is like scoring drugs at an AA meeting, but what did you spring for on the K&L offer?

Not Dav3 obviously, but it was worse than usual - they reloaded on Au Bon Climat library wines, and had more interesting Oregon producers as well.
