Mongtomery County, MD

The BYO scene is extremely vibrant now in the Montgomery County, MD. Some of my favorites are Blacks, Melina, Julii, and Q by Peter Chiang. All are extremely accommodating and let us do our own wine service. The typical fee is $25 per bottle.

Does anyone else have recommendations for this area? I’d love to hear them.

I think Laperaux in Germantown allows BYO. I asked him if he’d let me host my wine group there and it was an enthusiastic yes. I know Il Pizzico doesn’t as don’t many of the Italian restaurants. I will ask at Grilled Oyster next time I’m there. I think they might.

And we went to The Grilled Oyster Company tonight and they do allow BYO and charge $25 per bottle

This is excellent news; thank you! MoCo’s liquor laws are so arcane that I did not even consider that there were spots that offer corkage.

This is great. I don’t get into MOCO too often (I’m in AACo) but am pretty much stuck to Osteria 177 and Aqua Al 2 in Annapolis. Maybe Charthouse or Lewnes’.

Guess it’s time to explore MoCo a bit.

Salt Line in Bethesda offers corkage for $30 with a two bottle max.

I’m in Kensington. Somehow Frankly Pizza still refuses to allow corkage but -

Zinnia in Silver Spring does $25, beautiful setting and serviceable food.

Black Market Bistro in Garrett Park isn’t anything crazy but again, cute historic setting, and starch-coated fast-food fries fried in peanut oil. If you aren’t allergic they are some of the best fries around. $20 corkage to pop a bottle of champagne, sit on their 1800s porch and eat those fries is a win.

Q by Peter Chang in Bethesda remains undefeated.

Peter Chang’s in Gaithersburg also allows corkage. Last few times they didn’t charge us.
