Pretty impressive
Wow! Thanks for posting. Mike and Leah are good people too.
Wish I owned the 13âs from Myriad.
I have eight 2013s (maybe one or two less that I forgot to take out of CT). The 2013 Dr. Crane is the wine that caused a well-known WSJ wine writer to forsake the ethical obligation not to drink while working and take a glass when we opened it.
Maybe our next wine with flavor dinner (See MacDonald thread in the OL Forum) will be âMike Smith 100 pointersâ.

Canât hold mine that longđ
Really amazing winemaker and a truly special person. Mike and Leah are examples of what I love about the wine world and why even though I have stopped drinking as much Napa Cabs, I still support their other wines. Myriad Syrah for my $$ is close to the best bang for the buck you can get in Napa as are his Whites
Cheers!!
Great thread, and was one of the first wineries I started supporting in 2015 (after several years into my wine journey), and they were very generous with their time and tastings. I cannot wait to try the Myriad Rarefied Air Semillion/Sauvignon Blanc in a few weeks!
So many great scores, and certainly his wines are accessible on the young side, but I feel also drink well with a few years on them as well. I recently had a 2012 Beckstoffer Georges III that was rocking.
not sure if on the list but the Salt Vine Cabernet is a really good wine - and relative value at BD price
Those â13 Dr. Cranes are mind bogglers
Thanks for the reminder, I spaced on that last year.
I canât say enough nice things about Leah and Mike. They hosted me and my daughter a year ago at their home. Very generous.
Hey Steve - is there a seat available at the âSmith 100â dinner? I have a number to choose from.
That was Jay
My bad. I apologize. Jay?
My first purchase of Mikeâs wines were the 2013s. When I read RPâs review of the GTO, I remember thinking what a damn good review and whoaâŚ50 years of life, had never seen a reviewer of Napa forecast that far out-
âAvailable only in magnum, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The G.T.O., short of any meaningful description, is simply one of the most profound and extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted in Napa Valley, and thatâs saying something, given the extravagant cascade of great, great wines that have appeared in 2012 and 2013. This has it all. Itâs like taking Chateau Latour and reducing it to the essence of that site, combined with the incredible purity, crème de cassis and blackberry fruit of the To Kalon Vineyard. This wine transcends reality â a mind-boggling effort that every wine lover deserves to taste once in their life. A true bucket list Cabernet Sauvignon, available only in magnum and obviously very limited, itâs a tour de force, a majestic achievement and a showcase for what Napa is increasingly doing. Drink it over the next 50 years.â
Mike told me the other day that 2023 may eclipse 2013. The vintage was that good.
Canât wait to load up on the 2023 vintage!
Thank you for sharing
