Anybody tried the Mike Brughelli wines:
Worth it (I have my doubts)?? At $800/4 oak… not likely I’ll bother to try them!!

Mike appeared in a recent Bedrock video, I believe discussing Bien Nacido vineyard. Seemed very knowledgeable. I’ve not tried wines from his Pinot/Chard project. Ambitious!!!
I’ve not tried the wines and likely won’t with a price tag of $200 per bottle but I know that he did sell out of all of them. I’m sure that they are a different take on the vineyards that other winemakers work with (apparently he is not disclosing where the fruit came from BUT since he worked as grape sales for a long time at Bien Nacido, there is a strong feeling they come from there).
I’ll be curious to hear thoughts on this one as well. At $200 per, these are definitely a ‘luxury purchase’, but as the saying goes, if you can get it, take it, right?
Cheers.
i’d love to hear an actual buyer tell me why they bought these vs actual burgundy. purposefully NDA wine, afwe at 200 a btl. interesting business plan.
Steve,
Always interesting why folks purchase what they do - the same could be said with LOTS of wines out there IMHO.
Cheers.
Hi Tom,
You’re welcome to email me any time to schedule a private tour and tasting. I don’t do them very often but I can make time pending your schedule. I’d be more than happy to address any doubts or concerns you may have.
These wines do sell out and have been scored well for whatever that’s worth. They’re coming from vineyard sites that I’ve dictated and / or managed the farming on for over a decade with the goal of applying top tier farming to top tier and potentially incredible sites. My mailing list gets first access and I allocated a few boxes for my export market.
I farm to 1.5 tons per acre or so and it costs me around $30,000 per acre to farm to these levels (sometimes more).
Cheers,
Michael Brughelli

Michael,
Great to see you here - and let me be clear that these wines are very very well made with a meticulousness that is impressive.
Cheers
