Leaving for Argentina in just over a month. I haven’t seen anything posted here about trip reports from the Mendoza region in quite some time. Any words of wisdom, can’t miss restaurants or wineries, or just general advice would be most welcome. Thanks!
If you want to see Mendoza right, contact Peter Cubillos, Peter Wine Tours. https://peterwinetours.com/. We used him on two separate occasions for 3 full days of tours.
I haven’t been back since COVID, but a great non-tourist restaurant is:
Don Mario
25 de Mayo 1324
Dorrego, Guaymallen
Everything is very good, grilled goat is a specialty, an extensive wine list is reasonably priced and will have some wines with bottle age.
By car or cab this is less than 10 minutes from downtown.

I can’t remember if we used Peter or somebody else (I think we used Peter) but I also highly recommend using a driver. Even if you’re using GPS and you think you have good coordinates for where you’re heading I guarantee you that you’ll end up lost at least part of the time. Sometimes the roads or turns simply aren’t there when you get there.
Besides, you’re on vacation. Relax. It isn’t that expensive for the enjoyment and peace of mind.
We have used Peter Cubillos, Peter Wine Tours Mendoza on two separate occasions for three full days of tasting each trip. Will use him again should the occasion arise.
Thank you everyone. We went ahead and got a private driver. No I can relax and just enjoy the trip.
