Guess I forgot the smiley face…however on a serious note about Mollydooker, I had an '05 Enchanted Path back in April that surprised me being better than I expected. I kept a few of the '05s just to see what would happen.

I think I have some alto moncayo, but I’m not sure that registers on the controversial scale…

had it a while ago in a grenache tasting against clarendon hills, clos morgador, and some others. it showed very well!
Guess I forgot the smiley face…
I got it – no smily face needed. I was just piling on.
I just want to bump this to keep everyone interested.
September is turning into a crazy month for me and it is just hard to commit to a date.
How about Mon Oct 12th as a date to start with. That Persian place in Towson would be fine with me. And we could pick wines to match the cuisine as well as doing a Pico Madama/Sierra Carche shoot out.
Does that date work?
Oct 12 is OK for me also.
I think the 12th should work for me too.

Is JSM invited? He lives near Baltimore, if I recall. In fact, to be sure
that he notices this re-tasting opportunity, you should cross-post at eRP. ![]()
October 12 looks clear to me.
Awesome, sounds like we have enough people to make this happen for the first (I think) MD Berserker offline!
We can do the Sierra Carche and Pico Madama as science, but what theme do we actually want to drink??
Bump. ![]()
Another bump!
What theme is everyone interested in? I’m open.
I’d be interested in CdP, wait, I am always interested in CdP.

I’ve got some Vieux Telegraphe in my cellar, plus have access to lots of other stuff so that would be doable. I know Brad has a few kicking around that he is ITCHING to open!
Mmmm Vieux Telgraphe
Maybe we could say CdP, but only old-school CdP?

Sounds great to me. That is usually my preference in CdP. Have you had the 06 VT yet? We popped one over Labor Day alongside the 03 and it was excellent.
I haven’t tasted anything after '03…yet, and the '03 wasn’t ready, but that was in '08. I think VT needs close to 10 years until it gets where I like it. That being said, I suspect '04 and '06 are a bit different in their evolutionary track than '03, '05, etc. Had an '89 this year which really made me rethink my consumption time-frames of VT.
I’ve got some older Croix des Bois, '98 I think, that I could bring. Certainly qualifies as old school to me.

I have some '03 and '05 Vieux Donjon, some '01 VT, some '00 Janasse VV, and a few others that would be interesting to try. I am in the camp of those who think the '03 VD is stewed and hot, FWIW, but lots of people seem to think it is really great.
I drank my last 03 VT on Labor Day. I had a few others and it never seemed like a great or long lived vintage for them. This bottle was good but not great, overshadowed by the 06 I had next to it. I’m not sorry I drank my last one as I don’t see much room for improvement.
That said, i usually like VT with a bunch of age too. I just haven’t liked anything CdP I have had from 03 and don’t want it in my cellar. YMMV
Cdp sounds like a fun theme, we can debate the merits of 03!
Still gotta make time for the Sierra Carche/Pico Madama in the mix too.

Lest there be any confusion, I was referring to a 2003 VD, not a 2003 VT (which I have not tried).
