Luca hosted us in his new digs in Serralunga. We had to cut short our visit due to a later appointment in Castiglione Falletto.
With Luca
Fresh floral and pretty nose. On the palate there’s good structure, plenty of dry extract balanced with acidity with pretty fruit, florals and some esters . Quite good. Nice lift. Excellent timorasso.
With Luca
Young and a little grapey with a fresh and lifted nose. Sapid and deep for dolcetto with good balance. It’s little fleshy with a textural softness nicely combined with fruit tendency and whole cluster. Good balance. Fine tannins. Excellent dolcetto. (90 points)

Darker barbera fruit with spice, some licorice and violets. Sapid rich and ripe on the palate with good snap to fruit and acidity to match it. It’s larger scaled barbera, but from a style sense not what I prefer. Very well made. 13,5 and it seems much richer than that.
With Luca
A little reduced at first. Cool floral and pretty nose of pure nebbiolo fruit with good clarity. A little ripe fruit turning toward plum. Good length if a little warm. Firm tannins on the back end. (88 points)
WIth Luca
A mix of red and dark fruit. Violet more than rose, some mandarin skin, red licorice and tar. It’s structured yet retains good freshness. Maybe a touch of heat. Overall solid effort for ’23. (90 points)

Stems and raspberry and licorice. It’s sapid with a textural softness and sense of expansive richness. Power with weightlessness. Great clarity. Outstanding. 93+ (93 points) - 2023 Cascina Penna-Currado Barolo San Lorenzo - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (5/8/2025)

It is clear that Luca is reinvigorated and has a bigger than normal smile nowadays. I am very happy for him and Elena to be back making Barolo. The joy was palpable.
