To paraphrase The Simpsons, Communism also works, in theory.
I opened the thread curious why a years-old thread was popping up, only to see posts between two people who have clearly minor beefs with each other, that also have some fairly tangential connection to wine, in that it all took place at a wine storage company. I am skeptical their airing out their differences about why they don’t like each other will add value to the board.
If you don’t like my posts, you likewise don’t need to respond to them if they don’t meet your sensibilities.
??? It on topic for the thread. Former wine storage customer of the wine storage business in the title of the thread, with a response from the principal, named in the thread title. Seems like a disruptive, upsetting, bizarre, petty, and possibly illegal threat over pretty much nothing, not a petty beef.
I didn’t bump the thread. I only happened to respond because I saw Domaine Storage in the subject line. As I clarified in my post - and I will clarify again - I do not know Marc, and he does not know me. I’ve never interacted with him and can’t speak to any alleged criminal wrongdoing at all. My post is only regarding his (or somebody else’s) “leadership” at Domaine Storage. This isn’t the first thread to have slight thread drift and it certainly won’t be the last.
I was not expecting him to reply, but when he gave a “sometimes a relationship just isn’t working out” type response, I had to correct the record. The “relationship” was working just fine from their perspective until I asked publicly if anyone else was experiencing delays far in excess of what was promised when I signed up (and often times a little bit of runaround on when trucks were actually arriving, etc). As somebody who did not live in DC and traveled 2 hours each way when I needed to exchange wine with my locker, I needed to rely on their timing since I pretty much had to schedule and block out a whole day to make a trip.
I’m not a lawyer, but there’s a certain duty of care with other peoples’ property. Laws vary and details matter, but an unconfirmed notification with a fairly unreasonable timeline of burdensome action (30 days to find alternative and available proper storage and get 1000 bottles safely transported) or the 1000 bottles would be brought and abandoned in front of his house, along with a bill for the transportation. It sure seems like if he didn’t consent to the wine being shipped and some or all of it was damaged or stolen, he could go to court and win whatever value he claimed. That the court wouldn’t be the least bit sympathetic to Lazar. It would take a lawyer familiar with the relevant laws to determine if there was any unlawful coercion or anything like that there.
