A friend passed along an invite to a FREE Wine Bid tasting in San Diego. There were a few cool wines listed with the promise of more but my expectations were low. I figured what the heck and signed up. I had no idea and figured it was combo of customer appreciation and some marketing with some of the wines for sale.
It turned out to be amazing and far beyond what anyone could have reasonably expected. There were no wines for sale. It was purely an opportunity to meet customers and to thank them for their patronage. And boy did we all feel appreciated! Almost 50 different great wines with more than ample snacks, cheese, pizza, charcuterie to go along with them.
Paul and Jeff were great to hang out with as well as the others who came. The wines were great and I wanted to thank them again so hopefully they see this. I’m not sure where else they may show up but I’m damn glad they showed up here and if you are lucky enough to be somewhere they show up you should also.
Ten years ago or more, a Winebid exec joined our wine group for dinner. He brought a bottle of 1961 La Chapelle, which would have been legendary if it was genuine. I kept the empty; we believe it was bottled in Arcadia…
I didn’t get one either. One of my friends connected with Jeff on Reddit when it was in planning stages. I wouldn’t have known otherwise. It’s good to have wine friends like that
They brought it all. I actually didn’t get to those. My favorites were probably Cristal and L’eglise Pomerol. Lots of wines showed really well but those two stood out for me.
They did this event in NYC a couple of weeks ago ant Parcelle’s and it blew my mind it was free, Leroy, coche, screagle, Krug it was an amazing line up. I emailed them to say what an amazing event it was, not crazy full (in terms of people) just passionate customer’s .
I was truly surprised and it was pour yourself, so let’s just say no spitting = early bedtime. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Nice to see you enjoyed yours also.
