Madrid with kids - restaurants?

Will be in Madrid with our 11 yo and 9 yo soon. Looking for restaurant recs. We will be part of a group of 10 — I have quickly figured out that a group that large is quite problematic w/r/t making reservations, so I am thinking we likely will have to split our group into two smaller groups, and that’s fine.

The kids are not terribly adventurous eaters, but as long as things are not particularly challenging they should be okay.

I’ve already read the other Madrid threads, and have a small list going, but for the most part the recs in the other threads appear to be too high-end/challenging for the kiddos.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

When I was there with my son, then 7 ( quite adventurous with food) we both liked a few places.

Restaurante La Piperna - a very good Italian place with a good wine list.

If the like sushi, Saisho- Japonés is very good

Taberna Laredo was also a hit but perhaps nicer to try to get a table on the first floor where it a bit more quiet and easier to sit tables for kids.

The eating hours was the most challenging…

This isn’t much of a recommendation as I don’t really recall our meal very much (and it was a while ago), but when we were in Madrid with kids similar ages to yours, we went to Arzabal Retiro, where one of the meal features is that each table is given a bucket of butter with bread. Our kids still talk about the restaurant with the “bucket of butter.”

'ppreciate the posts, gentlemen. Thank you!!

If it wouldn’t freak your kids out, the suckling pig at Botin is awesome and memorable, and the restaurant is over 400 years old

My wife doesn’t like Spanish food so in Madrid we had dinner at Little Dragon (Dim Sum) and Oven Mozzarella Atocha (Italian food, small chain). I agree the late eating hours are the most challenging aspect. Tourist restaurants are open earlier.

Nun cookies are worthwhile for the experience and perhaps one box of the cookies. Stroll into the church, too, just to get a feeling of the vibe. We found it fun as adults.

Also fun for adults and kids, Churros y Chocolate at one of the restaurants that specialize in churros and chocolate. There are about 4-5 really good ones in Madrid.

El Rastro flea market is a fun stroll and great to buy some off-beat stuff.

Agreed about churros y chocolate. Try Chocolateria San Gines, near the San Gines church. It’s well known for a reason.
