2025 Domaine de Majas, Cotes Catalanes Blanc - Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Macabeu, Carignan Blanc, 11.5% abv. An odd aroma on opening but blows off quickly (maybe from cement tanks?); bright, fresh, mouth watering and very easy to drink. Refreshing melon/citrus finish.
Silly as it sounds, cement dust.
More likely just reduction that hit my nose funny. And the wine had traveled a long distance about 48 hours before opening.
Since it blew off, I’m not concerned.
I do not know if I have ever knowingly had anything with Carignane Blanc in it. The other components all hit my wheelhouse for refreshing white wine I want to drink. I am inclined to presume this is un-oaked. Where was it sourced and who imports it? I am not bent on seeking these sorts of things out, but it might be near me if it travelled far to you.
Cheers (and always enjoy your check-ins and finds),
