I bought a couple bottles at Flatiron Wines and suddenly realized that I forgot that I had bought cases of Riesling from them over a year ago. Outside of futures, I can’t remember forgetting wine at a retailer for this long.

For me this only ever comes into play when I have a purchase shipped to my offsite storage. I order, and then a few months go by and I have forgotten about it. It ends up in storage, and forgotten until I happen to be looking for something else at the offsite.
I’m pretty strict about marking things as pending in CT. There are plenty of things on that list I don’t remember buying, but at least they’re all tracked.
Same here but there’s still some I occasionally forget to enter if I place the order on my phone from an email received on the go and never get back to it later. Usually I figure it out when I get a list from the retailer of items ready to ship and there are some missing an entry. Then I dig through my emails and find the order.
But I have to imagine there must be some one off orders over the years that I’ve lost and the retailer has never reached out about. I just found one such order that was in CT but just got lost in the sea of pending orders and I forgot to reach out to them this fall for shipping.
I bought some 2001 Rieussec futures from winex and they called me about them this year…
About 20 years ago, I bought 6 bottles of Ramonet St Aubin “Les Charmois” from Premier Cru for $15/bottle. 2 1/2 years and a move later, they called to tell me the wine was in. I’d totally forgotten about it. Nothing like a Ramonet bonus!
Three years or maybe a bit more. I bought some things from K&L and didn’t want them shipped so I asked them to hold. They said they would and I completely forgot about them.
A few years later I was on the west coast, there was a wine I wanted, I called ahead and they said they had it so I bought it. When I stopped by the store to pick it up, they brought out three cases.
“WTF!” I said to myself. And to them. They said the wines were mine. We looked at the receipt and sure enough, they were mine from a few years earlier. Good stuff too.

I purchased some Alban white wine from a Denver local pre Covid and hopefully he’s still got it. Going to go back and check emails and see if I can figure out who I bought it from and if he still has it?
