Letter from Alex and Graeme MacDonald

Kevin,
I agree with this. I’ve had the 10 a few times and it needs that amount of air. If you don’t enjoy it, let me be the first to offer to buy your remaining 2 bottles.

I bought mine. Opened an 11 a couple of weeks ago. It was great but much better on Day 2. 12 is such a forward vintage (although I am sure it will last too), that I will probably open a 12 before another 11, but hopefully I will show some restraint.

Having tasted each, I’ll probably open them in reverse order: '12, '11, '10. It’s not that I think the '12 won’t age, rather, it’s just so approachable now.

Part of our enjoyment of wine is the story and place. Although I am way late to this party signing up just a few months ago, I’ll wait patiently. Why? Not because it appears to be a board darling or another culty Napa must have. No, I covent a position on the list because of the story, the place, the history, and that the customer service appeared to honor these humbly. I will continue to read and be slightly envious of those of you who were able to procure…

Sold out…maybe next year.

I just got the email stating this is sold out… I never did get a release email.

Last year I got a release and offer email and it sold out before I got a chance to order, I was hoping to get an offer this year. I guess it didn’t happen. Seems odd to get a “Sold Out” email though when I didn’t get an offer, let alone and upcoming release email.

Oh well, I’ll wait and hope for next year I guess.

I received offers the previous 2 years and the wine was sold out before I could order and now it appears I have been placed on the waitlist.

What was the tariff on these?

$450 per three pack (standard allocation)

Robert, I’m doing some reading on this great vineyard. Your post is an amazing introduction. Thanks!
