Lentil Soup with Soppressata and Mendoza Malbec

Last night’s light supper, on a cool evening, was lentil soup with quartered semi-thick slices of soppressata added. It was much enjoyed with a 1999 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina - no sign of its age in either color, a dark ruby with no lightness in the edge, or nose/flavors - good rich dark fruit, with adequate acidity; and a medium long complex dark fruit finish.

Then for dessert we shared a nice crisp Jonathon apple, thinly sliced, with a Banfi Grappa di Brunello. It made an enjoyable finish to a nice light meal.
