Interviewer Q: You’re one of a group of great American wine merchants – guys like Joe Dressner, Neal Rosenthal and Terry Theise – who are all more or less from the same generation. Do you all get together and hang out?
Kermit Lynch A: No, it’s amazing – we don’t socialize, and one of the bad results of that is we have no political power. When the government tries to do something against us, we have no recourse. Because we haven’t formed a syndicate of importers of artisanal wines. And really, we are battered. The kinds of wines that I import and Joe Dressner imports, they’re in peril right now.
