Law Estate

Any opinions on Law estate? Is the style similar to any other Paso winery such as Herman Story, L’Aventure, or Linne Calodo?

Closer to L’Aventura than Tablas Creek. Beautiful, but pricey, tasting experience.

I tasted there once soon after they opened, I thought the wines were excellent but our tasting experience suffered from a bit of snobbery.

Agree with above. We also tasted there in the past. It was a very nice experience and the wines were solid. Just a tad too expensive compared to others we also like.

I agree. The wines are good, similar to L’Aventure and Clos Solene. In my experiecne, there are lots of
people making good wine in Paso for $100 a bottle. There’s also a lot of good wine for $70, like Epoch or Jada. If I’m paying that much, I buying Torrin or Saxum.

I tasted at Law recently and thought the wine and experience was excellent. It’s a stunningly beautiful property. Less over-the-top and brooding in style than I remember from the past, I thought the wines were classy and refined.

Interesting that you bring up Law Estate. Was going to mention their wine in the other thread Re: most powerful US wines. I’ve never visited.

I purchased their lineup for a couple of years in the mid 2010’s. Audacious has Cab Sauv, Syrah & Grenache in the blend and was a massive wine; interesting and compelling but harder for me to drink early. Imo, needed lots of air & time in the bottle.
Sagacious (Mourvèdre Rhône blend) was a big wine early also.
Beguiling & Nines (Grenache blend & Grenache) were the easiest to drink early & IMO their most compelling. (I also prefer Saxum’s Grenache blends in their lineup, so take that for what it’s worth).
Two years ago I had the 2013 Beguiling & thought it was a very nice wine & definitely could hold its own next to a Saxum James Berry.
I stopped buying because I didn’t love drinking them young & got distracted by other wines.
