I will not be a buyer. Probably not a bad wine for just north of $500, but of course you can do better. I always use Montrose as my data point , as it is making first growth wine close to a third of the price. So in this case, if I had $1500 to spend, put me down for 8 bottles of the amazing Montrose 2016.
They are almost certainly holding back the 2016 with the view the wine markets are a lot softer at the moment.
I was intending to take an allocation of 2016 which I expected to be released today, just because it is likely to be one the greatest ever Bordeaux’s and the sooner it is in my cellar the better, but don’t really feel the need to rush out any buy 2017 just because it is released today.
So the question now is what do I spend the money I have budgeted for the 2016 Latour on?
