On wine fridge,

  1. Always buy larger than you expect you will need.
  2. Consider used. I see nice stuff given away from time to time on WB. Used market seems to be very cheap.
  3. The Costco artevino is a great option if you want new.

If you’re not in a rush and you’re in a populated area, keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace or other local resale sites for a newish version of one you want. I just picked up a Eurocave Revelation L for a fraction of the new price from a guy who had it for 2-3 years before building a custom wine cellar. The Main du Sommelier rolling/premium sliding shelves with the individual bottle cradles are wonderful. I think I can’t ever go back to another style in a wine fridge.

Anyone open up a 2006 Cain Five (current mystery wine) lately? CT shows drinking window as 2013-2022. I’m wondering if it’s worth picking up.

Ignore CT drinking windows, they are all 100% fiction.

Huh… not familiar with this producer

Looking like it recently sold. Dumped their library to LB before rebrand?

Looks like this wine is pre-Gott, from when the Rudds owned it:

Wine Spies sold through the 2015 through 2017 mixed blacks about two years ago. They are fantastic, and one of a kind in my opinion. My suggestion is by all you can afford, however, I see that they have more than 12 wines offered today, which is going to be epic, so pace yourself. I’ve only had their mixed blacks, but have wanted to try others. I will be a buyer.

What style is the wine?

LB goes from Cain Five to Abel 1833.

Apropos for a Sunday.

Definitely Napa. Slight ripeness, but the Mixed Back is also very earthy from the mouvedre. Very balanced, no hard edges.

I went back and looked, and Wine Spies sold these wines for $58 to $68, so this is a steal. Plus it’s a 2018. Very ageable!

What’s the level of oak in their chard?

if I recall correctly quite moderate or just very well
integrated, rather restrained in style, what’s also cool
is Bacigalupi made up a large proportion of the Chardonnay in the Montelena bottling that won the Judgement of Paris

If we upgrade one of the orders to overnight or 2-day shipping will that apply to a consolidated case? I’ve read all their FAQs and watched the video, but it doesn’t say anywhere I can find.
